Our Teachers

All teachers in the Global Music Academy hold Bachelors or Masters degrees in Music,Dance or Art. They are involved personally in each student's development and preparation for recitals, festivals, competitions, and exams. At the same time, they strive to make the learning process for the student pleasurable. We put special emphasis on our teachers performing careers because we believe that active concert musicians and dancers are the best possible example for our students.

Alan Schrager – Drums

A seasoned professional, Mr. Schrager studied under: Pete Heywood (The Fifth Avenue Band), Al Miller (Cab Calloway, Xavier Cugat, & Al Miller Big Band), John Kasica (Saint Louis Symphony), Bob Luther (Fairchild, Studio Jingle Work) and Bobby Dominguez (Russell Ferante of The Yellow Jackets).  He graduated from Suffolk County Community College in New York with an Associate Liberal Arts Degree.  He worked 8 years in the USAF Band career field at Scott AFB, Illinois and March AFB, California performing in all ensembles.

Michael Inofuentes - Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Tuba

Mr. Inofuentes is a freelance musician and a native of the Washington D.C. area.  He began studying the trumpet with Adel Sanchez while attending Woodson High School in Fairfax Virginia in 1995. In 1996 Michael won positions with the Metropolitan Wind Symphony, Brass of Peace, Virginia Youth Symphony, and Principal Trumpet with Virginia’s District 11 Band and Virginia’s All State Orchestra. He studied at The Boston University Tanglewood Institute in Lenox Massachusetts and was awarded as ‘Best Trumpet Player’. Michael was a ‘National Symphony Orchestra Young Associate’. He was also the Assistant Principal Trumpet of American Youth Philharmonic performing on tour throughout Moscow and Saint Petersburg Russia.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Music in trumpet performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston under the direction of Peter Chapman. He later studied with Peter Masseurs earning a Graduate Performance degree from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. In the Netherlands Michael has appeared numerous times as a soloist; most notably for performing the Trumpet Concerto by J.N. Hummel with the Philharmonisch Orkest Mozart. In Miami Michael studied with Arturo Sandoval and performed with the Miami Symphony Orchestra.  In his free time Michael enjoys reading, puzzles, and running. He also enjoys performing New Music and Latin Pop.

Hugo Ortiz - Tango, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata

Hugo has been dancing since he was 4 years old receiving his first Merengue & Salsa lesson from his mom in the kitchen. Since then he became a lifelong dance enthusiast. His repertoire has expanded to include Argentine Tango and Ballroom. Especially important to him is the feeling of the dance, and he emphasizes this quality throughout his teaching in order to enable his students to feel and interpret the music, "For what moves a dancer through space is the feeling & passion". He also represents the idea of how a Latino understands dancing, "All it´s about having fun". He is currently working towards certification through the Dance Vision International Dance Association (DVIDA).
